What a fantastic writer. Schooled in English schools with the prose of Longfellow and Shakespeare, his writing is superb beyond my wildest imagination for a book like this. His intellect must have been a force to contend with out in the wild. He used his writing skills to keep himself entertained as he spoke of some of the best tales of the wilderness I have ever read. Intelligent-he was meant to be there to bring us this wonderful story of survival and redemption.

Grey was going green before the rest of us.
The works of "Grey Owl" are a treasure! I love to read these year round. This hardcover contains a number of stories in one book. Another good one, is "Tales of an Empty Cabin".
A great book.
Great read and I would recommend the movie with Pierce Bronson.
Not as good as the movie with Peirce Brosnan, but still interesting.
apart from the book itself, which is great, and incredibly literate for a guy who ran away from home as a teenager, the condition was exactly as described (maybe better) by an apparently very honest marketplace dealer. if you liked the movie, you will love the book.
Halfway through right now. I really love this book. Would recommend it to anyone who enjoys nature writing. The things he writes about are as applicable to our day as it was in his!
