When I downloaded this book on my kindle, I had no idea what to expect. It looked interesting and the price was perfect.Once I had started reading, I didn't want to put it down and finished it in one day. Allison is a character that you love to hate and though she's never nice, I found myself wanting to hear her speak more and more. I loved Daniel's character as well, though I'd never want to befriend him!
The suspense and tension builds at a fast pace when all of a sudden you realize what is about to happen next...and I felt myself cringe as it began to happen!
This is the first time I've read a book by this author, but can't wait to read her next one.
If you love suspenseful thrillers, this one will not disappoint.

Marinade Wishing Well Series Book One 1 eBook Rebecca Ratliff Reviews
I love the horror genre, I grew up watching the scary shows and cut my teeth on Stephen King novels. And I'll be the first to admit that there was a movie or two that gave me nightmares, but never ever in my life had a book given me a bad dream that is until now. If you're a fan of horror, then I recommend that you read marinade, but do it in the daylight hours.
This book really needed an editor. There were so many typos and misspelled words. I can usually get over that but the book had a major problem. I didn't care about any characters. The only good people were killed off early. The main character's meanness and cruelty was unbelievable. She tried to kill her roommates. Nobody learned a lesson and I wasn't moved by them dying. The only interesting character was the demon, Daniel. I just feel that the reader should care if the characters live or die, and someone should be able to learn a lesson and get away.
...is a powerful emotion that drives people to do things they normally would never consider. I think Ms. Ratliff showed that amazingly well in this story.
I didn't really know what to expect when I picked this book up. The 'be careful what you wish for' concept has been done many times so I wasn't sure what new might be brought to the table.
Boy was I impressed. The way everyones favorite gorgeous demon makes his wishers requests come true is creative, gruesome, painful, terrifying... I could go on but I wont.
I highly reccomend this read. I already picked up Book Two when I bought this one and I am eagerly looking forward to reading it.
In my house I'm the cook in the family and I'll tell you one thing. I don't think I'll ever be able to look at the Marinades in my fridge the same way ever again.
You might be looking for a well known horror author name before buying because it is better to go for what you know rather than take a risk on something you dont. after all, alot of what horror has become seems to revolve around sexually charged gore fest. for me this is not good horror.
this story reads more like a Stephen King envirnoment. the settings are small and intimate with highly detailed descriptions of everything. when you are reading this, you are being drawn in, set up for when the horrror begins. when it does begin, there is no grand entrance, it is neatly presented there for you; the result was me flipping faster through the pages. normally a slow reader, i went through this in three days or so.
the style of horror reminds me of what was good about horor with stories like wish master and of course Stephen King stories. if that is what you like then i would say it is well worth buying this book.
on a personal note to the author, and please take this as a compliment, you give me the creeps.
This book was so bad....Not only was it written in poor taste, but it is just plan 0l' bad from the get go..... Of course we all encounter people like this in our lives (The Main character) but seriously the whole wishing well, and giving people what they deserve is ridiculous especially how it is written in this book..... I honestly didn't even finish it because I couldn't seem to remain engaged in the story so I basically read the beginning middle and end..... Don't waste your time....
This book was definitely not what I expected. After reading the strong reviews, I thought this would be an interesting read. It was certainly an interesting read which definitely went down a path I was not expecting. I personally did not care for this particular path however. It was gruesome and grotesque, far too much so for my taste. The main character was extremely unlikeable, which I suppose was sort of the point and the ending was disappoint in my opinion. I would not recommend this book to anyone personally, and will definitely not be reading the next book in the series. I am glad I got this for free, while there were twists that kept right up until the end, it was not enough to keep me from disliking the final product.
Rebecca Ratliff has, by her own admission, an overly active imagination. Some of the material, involving a demon named Daniel, will be very upsetting to some readers; however, you may be able to make a compelling case that any discomfort suffered by the reader may be an indication of just how good Ratliff is at developing horror.
I could quibble over its graphic content. I could complain about the pervasive strong language. I could point out a few glaring editorial errors "conscience" instead of "conscious," or "naval" instead of "navel." But this much is certain some of this is unbearably tense, a real page-turner. Fans of this genre will eat it up...readers out there who have already been steeped in "Marinade" will catch onto that pun quickly.
