This book really confused me.I love the authors writing
and I really like the story itself.
My big problem with it is the information is released
to you in the story at the wrong time.
I spent the first 40% of the book confused and feeling
like I had missed something.
You could tell the author knew the answers and was
writing it from that perspective.
The only thing is she didn't tell you the reader.
By 60% you knew little bits but were still really confused
as to what was going on.
Everytime you thought right this is where the story was going
it would swap to somewhere else.
The different parts of the plot worked really well I just
don't think enough was explained and the transition from
one part of the story to the next was too rushed.
When you finally understand what it going on with
Charley & Wyatt you are thrown a curve ball that
seems a bit rushed.
I would have made the ending sequence a bit longer
with more explanation and happenings.
Spoiler alert:
The ending comes too easy and if you had met your true
love you would recognize that it wasn't him straight away.
I think as the author grows her books will be fantastic.
She does needs to be more aware of how a story reads
to someone who doesn't know all the answers.
I give this book
3 out of 5

Little White Lies Aimee Laine 9780983405870 Books Reviews
While I admit I'm relatively new to the world of shape shifting, I'm not new to reading fantasy or Sci Fi I've loved Aimee's writing every since I read her short stories, and I found Little White Lie's to be just as well written, just as well thought out (plot wise) and an engaging page turner. Aimee has created a unique and interesting world for her Mimic's and I've been thrilled with each new chapter and I admit.. only slightly in love with Wyatt! He's a cutie that's for sure!
Little White Lies. READ IT, it's a decision you won't regret.
I just finished reading Little White Lies. I've never read a book on shape-shifters, but this one was great. It was fast paced, and kept me glued to the pages. The author painted a wonderful and detailed world of shape-shifters or Mimics, and a plot filled with undercover ops, shape-shifting, your not-normal birthday, love, romance, and twists.
Charley, Wyatt, Cael, James and Lily, were all wonderful characters, as were the others. As the story progressed, I began to love them more and more. James - I loved him. I hope to find out more about him in upcoming books, and I hope he finds his match! ;)
WOW! This was an awesome story, read it cover to cover in ONE sitting because I could NOT put it down!
The main characters, Charley and Wyatt, are fabulous. I can visualize them in my head and feel like I know them personally. The supporting characters are amazing too. James, Lily, Cael and even Stuart each have their own story lines that intertwine beautifully with the main characters. I do hope we hear more from them soon. (Hint,Hint!)
I read a lot of paranormal romances and haven't seen anything quite like this. I love that this is a slightly new twist on shape shifting. (Wow- something new, imagine that!)
Definitely worth the read, you won't be disappointed!
If you like classic romantic books this one is for you. The back and forth or self-doubt between the lovers, the many obstacles in their way of just coming out and being honest with themselves, another jaded set of lovers in the mix... this book has it all. The sexual interludes and language are done in a fashion that a younger adult might find it to their liking as well. While my dirty old mind wanted a little more steam, the love factor still existed.
If I had to pick out one thing I didn't care for, I'd say the transition from teenager to adult in the language... it still seemed like they were in high school chewing bubble gum in some points when the characters (well, Charley's a lot older) are supposed to be in their middle thirties.
Still, I'd recommend it as a good fast read.

My Review
And I thought I loved Aimee Laine's work before?!? Little White Lies blew me away!!! You might know from my review of Hide and Seek, that Aimee Laine's gift for verbalizing beautiful romance leaves me speechless ... and breathless!!! The love she is able to describe is pure fairy-tale and sweeps you off your feet.
Her leading ladies are the consummate balance of tough yet tender, confident yet unsure, world-wise yet unjaded. I love Charley. Loyal and brave, she's the perfect protagonist. Wyatt is truly melt-worthy; he's heroic, smart and honorable. The entire book is populated with amazing, well-developed protagonists. You care about the whole cast, not merely the mcs, and I suspect each of these players to have the spot light in future installments.
The world building is perfect. I love the creativity that has gone into developing these human shape shifters called Mimics. The Mimic history and personal histories of the characters were expertly unfolded throughout the book adding the the mystery and suspense. Instead of a big information dump early in the book, details are slowly woven into the story, developing the readers understanding throughout.
Little White Lies is crazy-cram-packed with action, suspense and mystery. When there's people out there who can completely change themselves into another person, who can you trust? I was sure everyone was really a bad guy in disguise. I was a little frustrated that our group of Mimics weren't near as concerned as I was about this. I felt overall the antagonists and their motives could have been better developed (especially a certain guy). Nonetheless, I was satisfied with the conclusion as it played out.
I bought and read the kindle version of this book. See more of my reviews on my blog, Known to Read.
